Surface Drains Common drainage solution that collects water from landscaping, lawn and roof gutters, downspout pipes. Strategically installed to yard drain pipes and catch basins and evacuates the water through a solid PVC pipe. Water then runs underground to discharge into a lower area, preferably the driveway or street.
French drains are trenches covered by rock that leads water into a pipe. Once in the pipe, water is redirected to a more desirable location. Channel Drains. Commonly used to keep hardscapes like driveways, patios, and pool decks free of standing water, channel drains include long grates that collect water and move it through underground trenches. Downspouts are connected to your gutter system and are designed to move water away from the house. Depending on the grade of your property, you may need more than the typical downspout. Extensions or underground drain lines may be necessary to prevent pooling water. Sump pumps contain a sump basin which collects water around the foundation or in the basement of a home. Using electricity, it then sends the water away from lawn or foundation by pumping it into a dry well or roadside area. This type of pump can be completely submerged in water, the pump is sealed to prevent short circuits. Sump pumps are specially designed for a flat yard, where issues with standing water or flooding are present. |
